This is my first flash animation over 1 minute. I'm not the greatest artist, but I'm kinda proud of it. Obviously I could of spent *a lot* longer on the walk cycles.. but they kinda work. :)
Looking for Suggestions Hello, just joined this community in hopes of getting some suggestions for an animation project that I'm working on (and have to finish quickly!) I'm not sure how many of you are animators or how active this community is, but I figured it might be worth a shot for some discussion and ideas.
I'm going to do a stop-motion animation, at least vaguely based off those old seance photos of ectoplasm, like from the 1900s, as well as some early-photography ghost photos.
I don't want to direct link anything, but if you're not familiar, a quick google search Here for "ectoplasm photos" yields relevant results.
Anyway, I haven't gotten a storyboard or anything worked out, so I'm really still in an idea stage here, so if anybody has ideas or suggestions, feel free to throw them my way.
I've considered using white fabric and wires and/or something cottony with wire supports and having this appear out of a corner of a wall and begin 'floating' through the room. I'm hoping that I may be able to do it in a dark room and light the 'ectoplasm' in a way that kind of washes it out so it doesn't just look like a sheet or something. I might also make the images look dirty and old in post production. Alternately, I may go a more modern route and have it look all low-res like web cam or cell phone footage.
Like I said, this is obviously still really in the 'idea' stage.
But any suggestions or ideas? I'm very new to animation and not really great at it, but I've some how ended up in countless animation courses at school. Stop motion seems to be my strong point, but I'm still not great with it.
Oscar Predictions for 2011 Animated Films The animated films eligible for the 2011 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature have officially been announced, and I wrote an article with how I think it's gonna turn out:
Last week was extremely productive. I spent nearly every free moment plowing through shots for my side project, The Many Maladies of Marty Mitchell. If you aren’t familiar with it, please take a moment to visit ManyMaladies.com. Even if you are familiar with it, you may want to stop by the site as I have added copious images and character profiles. Marty Mitchell is essentially a short educational children’s video I have been working on (when possible) since February of 2009. I am hoping to finally finish it before the year ends. After last week, I am about 80% there.
I also made a few posters for Marty Mitchell featuring a few of the characters. You can see them by either visiting the Flickr page for Marty Mitchell or clicking the thumbnail images on the Character page of the Many Maladies site. Send your favorite character to a friend (or print it out and post it in your neighborhood).
